The Magazine for Ferrari Enthusiasts
Cavallino is the journal of Ferrari history, covering Ferraris old and new for over 40 years. It's the most reliable, most trusted source of everything Ferrari. Ever since the first issue in 1978 Cavallino presents extensive stories and detailed information from knowledgeable experts and enthusiasts who share the passion for Ferrari. All Ferraris are unique, and each one has its own chassis serial number. This is how the Ferrari world keeps track of all the great cars. Cavallino is the only publication that prints the serial number for every Ferrari mentioned in our stories, articles, and race results.

6 | Notizie | V-12, saved from Death's Donor Some of you asked why we has no "Comments" section in our last issue, and very simply, we had nothing to say. Better to pass then expect you, dear reader, to try to follow the useless ruminations of the staff's mind when the staff has nothing in mind. But this issue, we have some information worth noting, and we think, worth commenting upon. |
12 | Modellismo | Ferrari Models Large David Robidoux Dave Robidoux Collection In Cavallino 34, we spoke of some of the smallest Ferrari models that have been made. Here we now begin to examine the other end of the spectrum, the larger toys which have been designed to be driven by small children. These toys generally were powered by small gasoline motors such as the type used to power a lawn mower, or an electric motor feeding off an automobile battery, or a pedal arrangement pedaled by the kid. |
17 | An Italian Idyll We got back for a special view of life at Monza, Modena and Maranello in the Year of Ferrari, 1957 Richard Veen Richard Veen Almost thirty years ago, back in 1957, two enthusiast, the American Jim Sitz and the writer of this article, Richard Even from Amsterdam, traveled around Europe for several months by VW attending all the motor races and visiting the sports car factories. I had been corresponding and exchanging car catalogues with Jim Sitz since 1950, and on a long hitchhiking trip I made around the U.S.A. in 1954/55, I met him in El Monte, California while he was still in high school and we have been friends ever since. | |
20 | Feature | Testarossa at Two A few Moments Meditation on Ferrari's Favorite Son now approaching its second year Peter Coltrin Well, the Ferrari Testarossa is two years old now; what to make of it? On the one hand, it is unashamedly the final version of the 365-512-512i Berlinetta Boxer series, which has been around for over a decade, a long time in anyone's book, but on the other, it is undeniably something more. Its press has been excellent since the Paris Auto Show introduction in late 1984. |
24 | Feature | Ferrari 212 Inter & Export An Appreciation of the Model with a special look at 0265 EU Alan Boe David Edgerton In the mad rush to get as much into print as possible concerning Ferrari automobiles - witness the scores of books and periodicals now available to followers of the Prancing Horse - authors and historians have seemingly glossed over the 212 Inter, Export and Sport models from the early 1950s. More's the pity because the early series of Ferrari coupes, convertibles, spyders, berlinettas and cabriolets was bodied by such firms as Vignale, Touring, Ghia, Ghia-Aigle, Pinin Farina, Scaglietti and, yes, even Abbott of England. |

The phrase means many things. To those who own a Ferrari, it means a combination of style, performance, and driving pleasure that other cars cannot hope to match. To those owners who wish to install sophisticated stereo systems, security systems, radar detectors, and cellular telephone equipment to personalise their vehicle, it presents a tremendous challenge. |
38 | Notizie | You Saw Nothing, You Saw Nothing ...! Ferrari Spy shots Giancarlo Perini, Villani We have some more information on this prototype spotted at Fiorano. Chassis and engine are the work of the factory, while the body only has been supplied by Giuliano Michelotto of Padua. What is it? It is a Ferrari GTO ans basically, we are told, it is a rolling test bed for future components to be seen in future production models and GTO-type cars. |
40 | Notizie | Meadow Brook Historic Racing and Concours d'Elegance Jerry McDermott Jerry McDermott What a weekend! Vintage car racing and a Concours d'Elegance - a weekend just made for Ferraris. Imagine classic Ferraris in the paddock, on the track and at the concours - all of them constantly on display for everyone to admire. And naturally, at evens like these, all types of Ferraris seem to magically appear: it seemed there were 308s and Dinos everywhere. |
42 | Notizie | The 1986 Ferrari Club of America Annual Meet A Pleasant Gathering William Locke Several months ago, the Ferrari Club of America held its annual meeting in Palm beach, Florida, and it was one of the more memorable meetings, partly because of the weather and location, partly because of all the Ferraris gathered, and partly because of the generally relaxed and enjoyable pace of the meet. As always, it is good to see a lot of Ferraris all together in one spot. |
